All Things Lavender
Lavender is our first love and the anchor of our farm. It is one of the most versatile herbs known to man with a rich history of documented use for over 2000 years. It was used in mummification by the Egyptians. It was used to scent the waters in the Roman public baths. Many believe it was the perfume used by Mary Magdeline to wash Jesus' feet. It was also one of several herbs blended to fight the plague. We currently grow 7 varieties suited for our area. But there are over 100 varieties, grown in pockets around the globe. Today, it is most commonly used in perfumery, but is also a wonderful, gentle medicinal that adds a spike of flavor in the kitchen, and dries beautifully for crafts.
We love to garden and we love good food. As a young, busy family, we always managed to produce an abundant vegetable garden but we missed the value of adding fresh herbs to our plantings. Little did we know that thyme produces a carpet of tiny white flowers. Or rosemary fills the air when you brush by. Only when the hectic pace of life gave way did we discover the difference herbs make in the flavor and enjoyment of our food, our approach to health, and even our cleaning routine. It is our genuine desire to reveal the world of herbs to all those we encounter so years are not lost before they know the wonder of these powerful plants. We grow a variety of kitchen herbs, as well as some things for fun and wellbeing. It is important to us that our community has access to herbs, both potted or in fresh bundles, regardless how busy life might be.
Who knew! Herbs love to be pinched. It's what makes them grow vigorous and full...and also gives us bountiful samplings of this and that as we care for our beds. We carefully label and dry these prunings while at their peak to make our custom herb blends. We also have a vast drying floor that allows us to harvest larger quantities for our medicinal preps and bulk dried herbs. Our dedication to chemical free cultivation and quick processing makes our dried herbs far superior to what you would find commercially or in the grocery aisles.
Vinegars, Salts, Pesto
We chuckle when we think of our old neighbor Howard, who was salt and light to all those around him. He was an amazing gardener and lived to be 102. When his garden exploded, he solved the problem by dropping off zucchini, tomatoes, or any number of goodies on back porches around the neighborhood. We solve the "problem" of over abundance by preserving our herbs in specialty vinegars, finishing salts, and fresh pesto. I can't promise our neighbors aren't subject to "bonus" zucchini from time to time. But, I can promise the taste of fresh herbs can be enjoyed year round through our vinegars and salts. They make everything you cook pop with flavor (and our pesto is addictive). Most of our products are always available. But, we regularly add seasonal items. So be sure to visit us often.

I am not a doctor, nor do I play one on TV. I do not intend to replace the relationship you have with your primary care clinician. However, I do believe that the addition of time tested herbal remedies are an excellent compliment to what you and your qualified health care provider(s) are hoping to achieve. Whether your goal is return to health, or achieving the highest quality of life possible, for as long as possible, herbs can make a powerful impact. Herbs are not a quick fix to most medical problems. With few exceptions, their gentle action should be considered supplemental rather than rescue relief. But, if a more natural approach to health is of interest to you, we should talk. Formal consultations are now available (see below).
